Architecting a PCI-DSS Compliant Cloud Operations Baseline for manager.one

Challenge

To launch and scale their payment processing platform, manager.one required a highly robust, secure, and operationally excellent cloud foundation built entirely from scratch.

Because they handle highly sensitive financial data, they were mandated to meet strict PCI-DSS compliance requirements from day one. Failing to deploy a well-governed infrastructure that met these stringent regulatory and security standards would completely block their ability to process transactions, preventing their product from launching to the market.

Solution

Cloud Office acted as the lead Cloud Operations architect to build their secure operational baseline. We utilized AWS Control Tower to establish a secure multi-account Landing Zone tailored specifically to financial security requirements. We implemented comprehensive network isolation, strict IAM policies, and encrypted data flows to satisfy PCI-DSS preventative controls.

To optimize continuous operations for their core banking applications, we designed a highly resilient compute tier using Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) powered by AWS Fargate. This serverless container approach completely eliminated the operational overhead of patching and managing underlying EC2 instances for the customer's development team.

To guarantee consistency and auditability, the entire PCI-DSS compliant architecture—from the governance guardrails and networking layers up to the ECS clusters—was strictly defined and deployed using Terraform (IaC).

Result

Cloud Office successfully delivered a production-ready AWS operational baseline that met all stringent PCI-DSS regulatory requirements. By leveraging Terraform automation and serverless operations (ECS with Fargate), manager.one was able to launch their secure banking platform on an architecture that requires minimal infrastructure maintenance, allowing their team to focus entirely on application development.
